About The Position

Douglas County is welcoming applications for an Accounting/Finance Supervisor. This is highly responsible work performing a variety of complex financial duties as well as supervising other professional staff. The job details outlined in this posting may represent a modified summary of the full job description. In the event of an emergency/disaster in or near the County, all County employees are expected to make every effort to be available to assist the County Manager, Elected/Appointed Officials and Department Directors to ensure the continued operation of any and all necessary County functions. This may mean being available to perform additional duties and hours beyond what is normally required. In the event that an exempt employee does work more than 40 hours a week in support of County operations during an emergency, such employee may receive overtime or other appropriate wage compensation in accordance with existing County policies or at the discretion of the County.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or related field
• Four (4) years of professional level experience
• At least one (1) year of supervisory experience
• Successful completion of a drug screen, reference checks, and a criminal background check including fingerprinting through a national database

Nice To Haves

• Governmental accounting experience
• CPA with audit experience
• A combination of education and experience may be considered

Responsibilities

• Supervising and training assigned personal
• Collaborating with the Assistant Finance Director in the preparation and publication of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)
• Working with auditors
• Assisting Finance Department leadership support new governmental accounting standards
• Establishing and maintaining Finance Department policies and procedures
• Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and Chart of Accounts
• Supporting the department by completing work and special projects as assigned
