About The Position

Offit Kurman, an AmLaw200 firm, is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join their Columbia, MD based team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced professional services environment and enjoys balancing accounting operations, vendor management, reconciliations, and compliance-driven processes.

Requirements

  • Understanding of accounting principles, policies, and procedures within professional services environments
  • Proficiency in Excel and bookkeeping/accounting software

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Experience with Aderant and/or Chrome River is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support daily, weekly, and monthly accounting operations, including AP, cash applications, reconciliations, and general ledger activities
  • Maintain accurate financial records, invoices, receipts, journals, and vendor payment schedules
  • Import, review, and post disbursement data while ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal procedures
  • Process vendor invoices and assist with AP release cycles, check printing, and ACH remittance communications
  • Manage client receipt applications for accounts receivable and trust accounts
  • Perform balance checks, discrepancy resolution, and month-end validation processes
  • Coordinate with Accounting, Payroll, AP, and Operations teams to ensure seamless workflows and continuity
  • Utilize SOPs, templates, and system tools to support operational efficiency and cross-training efforts
