About The Position

Marketing for Change Co. is seeking an Accounting Specialist who is ready to take ownership of core financial operations while helping improve the systems and processes that support their growing agency. This is a mid-level role for a thoughtful and dependable accounting professional who works independently, brings strong attention to detail, and enjoys improving how financial systems run day to day. As an Accounting Specialist, you’ll help ensure invoicing, reporting, reconciliations and project accounting are accurate, timely and useful to decision-makers across the agency. Your work will directly support financial clarity across projects and help teams stay aligned and resourced.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of accounting operations, including invoicing, reconciliations and month-end processes
  • Experience with project-based accounting systems and structured financial workflows, ideally including Unanet
  • Comfort working independently while knowing when to escalate questions or flag issues
  • High attention to detail with a consistent track record of accurate, timely work
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and explain financial information simply
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles and how they apply in a project-based environment
  • Ability to improve workflows and contribute ideas for more efficient systems
  • Strong discretion and care in handling sensitive financial information

Responsibilities

  • Own monthly client invoicing from setup through delivery, ensuring accuracy and timely execution
  • Prepare and maintain weekly and monthly financial reporting tied to company KPIs and project performance
  • Support monthly and annual close processes in partnership with senior finance staff
  • Maintain project setup and financial tracking in the timekeeping and billing system with accuracy and consistency
  • Complete reconciliations and assist with audit and compliance preparation tasks
  • Track corporate filings and renewals, ensuring deadlines are met and documentation is complete
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting, workflows and financial processes
  • Partner with internal teams to resolve billing questions and improve financial clarity across projects
  • Maintain accurate financial records with a high degree of independence and reliability
  • Other general accounting and finance duties as assigned
