About The Position

Cortina Solutions, LLC is seeking an Accounting Specialist to support the development and implementation of strategies for improvement of systems and processes related to financial accounting and auditability for Department of Justice clients. Perform a variety of accounting and financial management activities in support of federal programs and initiatives. Prepare, review, and reconcile financial statements, reports, and records to ensure accuracy and compliance. Monitor and analyze financial data to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for improvement. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes. Ensure compliance with federal accounting standards, policies, and regulatory requirements. Assist with audits by gathering documentation, responding to inquiries, and supporting corrective actions. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide financial insights and support decision-making. Maintain accurate financial records and documentation in accordance with established procedures. Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy of financial operations. Utilize financial systems and tools to track, analyze, and report on financial activity.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • Experience performing Federal internal audit and/or audit consulting, preferably supporting external Federal audits.
  • Familiarity with federal audit and accounting standards (SFFAS, GAGAS, etc)
  • Ability to review and understand technical accounting requirements and translate them to non-accounting stakeholders
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders from across the federal government to develop and document solutions for audit and accounting challenges
  • Attention to detail, organization, proactiveness, and sense of urgency
