Accounting Manager
About The Position
LCA WaterWorks (LCA), located in Allentown, Pennsylvania, is seeking a mission-driven Accounting Manager to lead accounting operations during a period of transition and growth. The role will help shape the organization’s financial operations, including guiding the implementation of a new ERP system, and support LCA’s public-service mission in the Lehigh Valley. The Accounting Manager works with the Controller on financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, compliance, staff development, banking and cash management, and strategic projects. The position also serves as a link between the Controller and accounting team, helping align financial operations with organizational goals. LCA provides water and sewer services and describes its workplace as collaborative, dynamic, and focused on innovation, service, and community partnerships. The role is based in Allentown, PA. The listed salary range is $80,000–$85,000 per year.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including team leadership.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, and audit processes.
- Proficiency with ERP systems.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Collaborative spirit and commitment to public service.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Controller to maintain the general ledger and reporting structure in compliance with GASB and GAAP.
- Jointly lead preparation of financial statements, annual reports, and budgets.
- Analyze financial data and respond to inquiries from auditors, banks, and regulators.
- Coordinate budgeting timelines, data collection, and forecast reviews.
- Support the year-end audit and respond to external auditor requests.
- Partner with the Controller to develop and enforce accounting policies and internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and strategic information.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, promoting accuracy, accountability, and professional growth.
- Evaluate and improve departmental workflows for efficiency and risk mitigation.
- Encourage staff development through training and professional engagement.
- Oversee banking and cash management operations.
- Collaborate with the Controller to align financial operations with broader organizational goals.
- Serve as a liaison between the Controller and accounting team in implementing financial strategies.
- Lead or assist with financial system upgrades, policy initiatives, and special projects, including implementation of a new ERP system.
