Liliput is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to assist the Controller with the monthly accounting close. Reporting to the Controller, this role supports the delivery of an accurate, timely, and well-documented close each month including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, intercompany activity, and other financial reporting as necessary. The Accounting Manager will also assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on involvement in the monthly close.
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, with hands-on experience applying ASC 606 in a construction or project-based environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency (pivot tables, lookups, large reconciliations).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NetSuite and Aspire is a plus.
  • CPA or CMA certification is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Help manage the monthly close calendar — track deadlines for each cycle, coordinate handoffs across AP, AR, payroll, and operations, and support the team in meeting a consistent close timeline.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries, including accruals, payroll, and recurring allocations, for Controller review.
  • Prepare account reconciliations for cash, AR, AP, accrued liabilities, prepaids, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts; research and resolve reconciling items before close.
  • Assist with revenue recognition under ASC 606 for construction and maintenance projects, including percentage-of-completion calculations, contract assets/liabilities, and project-level margin analysis.
  • Support pre-close and post-close P&L and balance sheet reviews; investigate variances and unusual fluctuations before books are finalized.
  • Maintain close checklists, reconciliation templates, and supporting workpapers in audit-ready condition.
  • Help document and maintain close-related internal controls, including segregation of duties, journal entry approvals, and reconciliation sign-offs.
  • Identify and implement improvements to close processes — shortening the cycle, eliminating manual work, and improving accuracy.
  • Work alongside AP, AR, and staff accountants on close-cycle deliverables; provide guidance and informal coaching as directed by the Controller.
  • Monitor customer collections activity and vendor payment cycles, and ensure subledgers tie to the general ledger at close.
  • Support vendor management, insurance audits, and accurate setup of vendor cost and customer sales data in the financial systems.
  • Engage in ad hoc projects and system implementations as assigned by the Controller or corporate leadership.
  • Undertake other duties as needed.
