Accounting Manager

Flex HRDenver, CO
$85,000 - $95,000Onsite

About The Position

Greenfield Milling is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its finance team. The team is working on broader financial cleanup and general day-to-day accounting work. This is a hands-on role where the company is specifically looking for someone who will actively execute accounting work day-to-day, not operate in a purely managerial capacity. There is significant room for growth into a people-management role as the function matures and the team builds out, along with a high degree of flexibility in how the role develops over time.

Requirements

  • Prior accounting experience in a hands-on capacity; comfortable personally executing detailed accounting work rather than only overseeing it.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles, including month-end close, reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with financial data and reports.
  • A proactive communicator who asks questions and raises issues early, rather than waiting to be told.
  • Comfortable working under a direct, strong-personality leadership style, and receptive to structured feedback and assessment tools (the organization uses the Predictive Index).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Demonstrated discretion in handling confidential financial information.
  • Available to start quickly.

Nice To Haves

  • Milling or manufacturing industry systems experience is a plus.
  • Experience supporting or participating in a financial cleanup, system implementation, or process-standardization effort is a plus.
  • Formal accounting credentials (CPA, CMA, or similar) are a nice-to-have, not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on accounting work in direct support of the team's ongoing cleanup and process-improvement initiatives.
  • Lead the monthly financial close process, including reconciling balance sheet accounts and preparing journal entries.
  • Own day-to-day management of one or more accounting functions as assigned, e.g., (accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger) to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Review and help correct historical account discrepancies as part of the company's broader financial cleanup effort.
  • Partner closely with the current team and communicate proactively — asking clarifying questions and surfacing issues.
  • Analyze financial data and prepare reports to support decision-making and leadership updates.
  • Assist with documenting and standardizing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Assist with external auditors, tax professionals, or outside accountants as needed.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in coordination with company financial planning.
  • Support ERP/accounting system usage and data integrity and help identify opportunities to improve or automate manual processes.
  • Assist with payroll-related accounting entries and reconciliations as needed.

  • Competitive Pay: Base Salary of $85,000 - $95,000, depending on experience
  • Paid Time Off & Company Paid Holidays
  • Medial, Dental, Vision Health Coverage Plans
  • Tuition Reimbursement Options
