About The Position

Post Real Estate Group is seeking an Accounting Manager to help lead accounting activities on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Reporting to the VP of Accounting and ultimately the Chief Financial Officer, this role will serve an important financial management role within the organization, interfacing with senior management, collaborating with all departments, and helping to lead the accounting team to create a more effective, efficient, and productive financial reporting process. The role is responsible for financial reporting, technical accounting, compliance, reporting to lenders and institutional investors, audit coordination, staff supervision, and process improvement. The position requires strong US GAAP knowledge and experience in both operational accounting and complex accounting matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in public accounting, private industry, or a combination of both.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with financial reporting and complex accounting transactions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership and team-building skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA license preferred.
  • Real estate industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review financial statements and management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and review technical accounting memorandums.
  • Review specialist reports related to: ASC 805 (Business Combinations), ASC 842 (Leases), Cost Segregation Studies.
  • Support REIT compliance requirements.
  • Review lender compliance reporting and covenant packages.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Review tax returns and coordinate related matters.
  • Oversee accounting and servicing of bond transactions.
  • Manage third-party accounting service providers.
  • Respond to reporting inquiries from institutional investors and partners.
  • Coordinate annual external audits.
  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Supervise accounting staff and month-end activities.
  • Conduct analytical reviews and forecasting.
  • Lead process improvements and system enhancements.
  • Perform special projects and other ad hoc accounting duties.
