About The Position

The Pathfinder Network (TPN) is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their Finance Team. This role will work closely with the Director of Finance and Accounting Specialists to maintain organizational internal controls, accounting policies and procedures, statutory financial requirements, best practices, and alignment with the organization's mission, vision, and values. The Accounting Manager will be a fully contributing member of the Finance Team, providing data, analysis, and recommendations to ensure accurate financial reporting and to offer insights into future operational and financial decisions. Requirements

  • 4-5 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Strong background in finance, accounting, and/or bookkeeping
  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Core computer skills in word processing, database management and spreadsheets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Capacity to correspond and work respectfully with diverse teams
  • Evening and weekend availability may be required
  • Working knowledge of various accounting systems including Financial Edge preferred
  • Working knowledge of payroll systems, such as Paylocity, preferred
  • Experience in non-profit accounting preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a motor vehicle during work hours that is covered by adequate car insurance
  • Must pass a criminal history background back, employment verification, motor vehicle records check, and drug screen, that does not test for marijuana

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of various accounting systems including Financial Edge
  • Working knowledge of payroll systems, such as Paylocity
  • Experience in non-profit accounting

Responsibilities

  • Manage all departmental functions, including A/R and A/P, general invoicing and dues billing, collections, banking, cash reconciliations, and cash management.
  • Support Director of Finance in managing agency financial operations.
  • Prepare first draft of financial statements, agenda, and review with the Director of Finance.
  • Create quarterly reports/KPIs for Board of Directors packet and review with the Director of Finance.
  • Create new general ledger accounts and monitor for accuracy.
  • Review of cash receipts, AP invoices, AR transactions for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Generate contract invoices and prepare revenue accruals.
  • Review payroll batch and prepare payroll journal entries.
  • Prepare journal entries - prepaid, depreciation, accruals, expense allocation, and net asset release.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts at month-end and fiscal year-end.
  • Assist in the completion of audit requests by external CPA and funders.
  • Process Parenting Inside Out credit card transactions as requested.
  • Prepare timely responses to all government registrations and other external correspondence.
  • Review and track unallowable/allowable expenses from contract agreements.
  • Analyze and release donor-restricted funds.
  • Maintain analysis and forecast reports of funder activities and report information to departments.
  • Perform analysis of 1099 vendors and draft 1096/1099 forms for calendar year-end.
  • Prepare quarterly sales tax filings for qualifying jurisdictions.
  • Calculate bi-annual royalties for partnered-impact activities.
  • Assist in the completion of workers compensation audit requests.
  • Support in the implementation of financial systems improvements and maintain internal controls.
  • Manage and motivate Accounting Specialists and collaborate to develop performance goals with action steps to support their success and growth.
  • Ensure staff and teams are resourced and supported to remove barriers and problem-solve.
  • Support internal collaboration among departments.
  • Assist with individual observations of staff, provide feedback, training and coaching.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings while fostering a team environment and support staff’s professional development.
  • Be a champion in the shaping and sustaining of a diverse, equitable, inclusive and just workplace, with a focus towards creating racial equity.
  • Participate on cross-departmental teams or committees regarding organizational policies, processes and work environment.
  • Participate in Temporary Teams, Equity Team, Employee Resource Groups, and other teams.
  • Contribute individualized skills, knowledge, experience and expertise to help the agency reach its mission.
