About The Position

Sodexo Live! at the University of Missouri provides premium food service, hospitality, and event management across campus venues, supporting both daily dining operations and large-scale athletic and special events. Located in Columbia, Missouri, the University of Missouri (Mizzou) is a flagship public institution known for its vibrant campus life and strong athletic tradition within the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting operations and financial reporting of the organization, ensuring accurate and timely financial management. This role plays a key part in maintaining internal controls, managing accounts payable/receivable, overseeing month-end close processes, and supporting financial compliance within a fast-paced food and beverage environment. The Accounting Manager will partner with the operations team and other department heads to ensure the financial performance of the unit and that Sodexo Live! standards for accuracy, efficiency and quality are upheld.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associates degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Experience in a leadership role in financial reporting and accounting.
  • Exceptional computer literacy with advance-level EXCEL and Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, to include Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong ability to analyze financial data and prepare ad-hoc financial reports, statements and projections as needed.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and work on several tasks/projects simultaneously, and who can contribute to functional areas of the business outside of the finance area.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Accounting / Retail Revenue experience within a food service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP and internal standards.
  • Ensure accuracy in general ledger maintenance and financial records.
  • Oversee the AP/AR process to ensure timely and accurate vendor payments and customer collections.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and manage dispute resolution.
  • Support inventory accounting and reconciliation in collaboration with operations and supply chain teams.
  • Monitor and analyze cost variances (e.g., food cost, labor cost, overhead).
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, tax regulations, and industry standards.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis for business planning.
  • Analyze variances and provide actionable recommendations to management.
