About The Position

New Hampshire Housing is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager, Payroll/AP to lead core accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll. This role is crucial for supporting the organization's mission of promoting, financing, and supporting housing solutions in New Hampshire. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive in research and continuous improvement, and motivated by meaningful work within a mission-driven organization.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and speak English at a proficient level.
  • Strong accounting knowledge and experience.
  • Strong understanding of accounting controls and compliance with GASB regulations.
  • Strong understanding of payroll wage and tax requirements.
  • Strong ability to leverage computerized financial and accounting systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Suite.
  • At least 5 years’ experience with UKG software or similar payroll software products.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Master’s degree in a related field and at least three years relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee daily Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, compliance, and seamless coverage across functions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including payroll taxes and required reporting.
  • Manage tax accounts with state agencies and proactively monitor all filings to ensure they are completed correctly and on schedule.
  • Review and approve ACH and wire transactions, safeguarding internal controls and financial integrity.
  • Foster a high performing team culture through regular coaching conversations, active performance management, and targeted development opportunities while engaging and motivating team members to achieve individual and organizational goals through clear expectations and ongoing guidance.
