About The Position

We are seeking an Accounting Manager, General Ledger (GL) to join our team. The Accounting Manager, General Ledger (GL) will oversee day‑to‑day accounting activities and supervise the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial records. This role will support the monthly close process, review journal entries, and account reconciliations, and assist with financial reporting in accordance with the modified cash basis of accounting, firm policies, and internal controls. The Accounting Manager, General Ledger (GL) will report to and work closely with the Senior Accounting Manager and others in the organization on account analysis, reconciliations, and the consistent application of accounting policies, procedures, and controls.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to review and interpret accounting data accurately.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate with attorneys, staff, and finance team members.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or people‑management experience, including reviewing work, delegating tasks, and supporting staff development.
  • Solid experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month‑end close support activities.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Unwavering integrity with the highest level of personal and professional ethics and keen appreciation for confidentiality.
  • Ability to exercise sound professional judgment and escalate issues appropriately in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, or Microsoft 365.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 4+ years of experience supervising or leading staff in an accounting or financial reporting environment

Responsibilities

  • Support the monthly close process by coordinating assigned tasks and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Ensure that all balance sheets and agreed-upon income statement accounts are actively and accurately reconciled monthly and that reconciliations are prepared and reviewed timely.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and support documentation prepared by the accounting team.
  • Hire, train and supervise accounting staff.
  • Manage staff conflicts, absences, and performance problems.
  • Monitor and analyze team workflows to identify opportunities for increased efficiency while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
  • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
  • Work with direct reports to support goal setting, performance development, and ongoing professional growth.
  • Ensure adherence to established accounting policies and procedures and support internal control and fraud‑prevention efforts.
  • Collaborate with Senior Accounting Manager to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Support internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules, documentation, and responses as assigned.
  • Support the Senior Accounting Manager with special projects and workflow process improvements.
  • Expected to maintain a regular and predictable work schedule and full attention to and engagement in work activities on behalf of the firm during business hours unless otherwise approved or required by applicable law.
