As a General Ledger Accountant with OMES, you will support the Central Accounting and Reporting team. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or a closely related field; and Two (2) years of professional accounting work experience; or An equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of education for one year of work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Good working knowledge of the State of Oklahoma Accounting system, PeopleSoft Financials.
  • Experience with SQL Tools and Developer and intermediate skills with Excel.
  • A strong understanding of accounting principles and statewide accounting policy.
  • Strong reconciliation skills.
  • A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.

Responsibilities

  • Process journal entries into the general ledger for all state agencies.
  • Ensure accuracy and proper authorization for the entry.
  • Read and analyze state legislation and statutes to determine department and agency actions and advice; issue written memos based on research.
  • Create monthly general revenue reconciliation and estimate.
  • Process monthly general revenue appropriation transfers and other monthly transfers.
  • Prepare various annual federal reports.
  • Provide functional support to state agencies in general ledger and accounting issues, including reconciliation of fund balances, various errors, general operating questions.
  • Function as backup for other general ledger team duties, including Form 11 reconciliation, payroll funding corrections, and payroll validation.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining training manuals, documentation and schedules and distribute to the user groups.
  • Monitor and respond to team Service Desk cases to provide timely resolution.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
