About The Position

The General Ledger Accountant supports the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records by performing core accounting activities, preparing reconciliations, and assisting with monthly close processes. This position requires strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to investigate issues and develop thoughtful solutions. While guidance is available from senior staff, the role expects an independent thinker who can manage assigned tasks with minimal follow‑up.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Three plus years of combined public accounting and corporate accounting experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with internal controls and SOX.
  • Experience with ERP and Reporting software, preferably Oracle. Proficient in MS Office products, advanced Excell skills (V-lookup, Pivot Tables).
  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and a rapid month end closing schedule.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to interact with colleagues externally as well as at all levels within the organization.
  • The ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Ability to analyze general ledger accounts and determine appropriate accounting and classification treatment of transactions

  • Advanced degree in accounting/finance (MBA or Master’s) or certification (CPA/CMA)

Responsibilities

  • Develop a solid understanding of the company’s general ledger structure, financial reporting processes, and internal control requirements.
  • Prepare and support journal entries, account reconciliations, and sub-ledger reviews as part of the monthly close process.
  • Assist in identifying, researching, and resolving discrepancies or unusual account activity.
  • Perform analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts; summarize findings and communicate issues clearly to the Accounting Manager.
  • Assist with intercompany transactions and support accurate and timely reporting between business units.
  • Prepare documentation and schedules for internal, external, and SOX audits; respond to follow-up inquiries with accurate and well-organized information.
  • Help maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal control standards, and SOX requirements.
  • Support process improvements by documenting workflows, highlighting inefficiencies, and suggesting practical enhancements that improve accuracy or speed.
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting, financial analysis, and special projects as assigned.
  • Meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced monthly close process while maintaining high work quality.
