WoodmenLife is seeking an Accounting Intern for their Summer 2027 program. This 10-week internship is designed to provide valuable workplace experience in the insurance industry, offering exposure to the planning, execution, and evaluation stages of various work projects and initiatives. Requirements

  • Sophomore, Junior or Senior in college with area of study in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field(s)
  • Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA
  • Ability to work 38.75 hours per week
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • The ability to provide seamless, trustworthy, attentive and resourceful (S.T.A.R.) customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Gain broad exposure to the WoodmenLife organization by meeting weekly with the Internship Cohort, collectively with Executive Leadership, and one-on-one with leaders at the division level.
  • Summarize and present a capstone presentation of the internship experience including project accomplishments, skill development, and key learnings.
  • Gain an in-depth introduction to Accounts Payable processes such as coding and processing payments.
  • Gain an in-depth introduction to various Accounts Receivable processes, such as applying payments, researching, and corresponding with Sales Representatives and members.
  • Gain in-depth exposure to processes and procedures of Corporate Social Responsibility projects.
  • Provide financial statement and regulatory filing support while developing an understanding of the Annual Statement preparation process.
  • Process and complete certain tax returns and gain an in-depth introduction to unclaimed property and unemployment filings.
  • Develop professional business communications through engagement(s) with internal stakeholders across various business units from start to completion.
  • Other Accounting projects as assigned.
