About The Position

USC Department of Surgery is seeking an Accounting Financial Supervisor. Working directly under the supervision of the Department Senior Clinical Administrative Director, the Accounting Financial Supervisor works closely with all Department Division Chiefs and Department Cost Center Managers to create and operationalize annual Fiscal Year Budgets for all Fund Groups, including Clinical, MSAA, Research, Gift and various Academic funds. The successful candidate will be motivated, pro-active, resourceful, and detail-oriented. The position requires excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to be decisive and adaptable. Candidates should have experience working with Senior Leadership and Faculty on annual Budgets, Projections and Variance reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years
  • Minimum Field of Expertise: Senior or lead bookkeeping/accounting experience with directly related college study.
  • Thorough knowledge of established accounting principles, methods, practices and terminology used in financial/accounting and statistical recordkeeping work.
  • Ability to train, evaluate and supervise the work of employees.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and effective communications skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 5-7 years of administrative or project administration experience
  • Experience in a complex medical or academic development setting encouraged.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable interfacing with highest level of university leadership and university supporters/volunteers.
  • Demonstrated affinity for diplomacy and the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships at all levels.
  • Masters Degree (MBA, Accounting or MHA)
  • Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and demonstrate strong organizational skills.
  • A cooperative and team-oriented attitude
  • Follows established USC and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan.

Responsibilities

  • Consolidated Monthly, Quarterly and Annual P/L by Cost Center
  • Annual Budgeting and Quarterly Projections
  • Accounting background in Healthcare, Institutional Research, Gifts and Development
  • Third Party Professional Service Agreements (PSA)
  • Supervision of Departmental Accounting Staff
  • Accountability and Implementation of University Travel and Expense Policies
