About The Position

The Financial Accounting Analyst will perform account reconciliations, ensure the accuracy of financial data, and participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes. This role involves preparing and reviewing monthly financial statements, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations. The analyst will conduct analyses to understand financial results, explain variances, and provide insights to management. A key responsibility will be participating in the migration, implementation, and optimization of financial systems, ensuring data accuracy and alignment. The role requires collaboration with entities across Canada for accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards, as well as supporting the Director of Finance during the budgeting process. Additionally, the analyst will perform variance analyses, support internal controls and accounting policies, assist with audit preparation, and provide ad hoc financial analyses.

Requirements

  • CPA designation required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role or 2 years of experience within a public accounting firm.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Intermediate-level Excel skills.
  • Experience with an ERP system; Microsoft Dynamics 365 is considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism (French/English – intermediate level) required due to the organization's nationwide operations and the need for effective communication across regions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform account reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
  • Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual analyses to understand financial results and balance sheet accounts, explain variances compared to prior periods, and provide explanations to management.
  • Play a key role in the migration, implementation, and optimization of financial systems, ensuring data accuracy and alignment across multiple platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with entities across Canada to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Support the Director of Finance during the budgeting process.
  • Perform variance analyses and investigate discrepancies to ensure reporting accuracy.
  • Support internal controls, accounting policies, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with audit preparation and respond to requests from internal and external auditors.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analyses and support as required.
