About The Position

The Walt Disney Company’s Controllership team is seeking a Financial Accounting Analyst to support accounting and financial reporting for the company’s subscription offerings, including SVOD, Live TV, and Premium Add-On services. The role reports to the Manager, Financial Accounting, with direct exposure to the Director. The successful candidate is a self-starter who embraces challenges and looks for opportunities to improve efficiency, innovation, and processes.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in public accounting.
• Good working knowledge of US GAAP.
• Proficiency with Microsoft business applications, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated, with comfort working in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

• Prior accounting or auditing experience.
• CPA or CPA candidate.
• Industry experience in media and/or entertainment.
• Experience with SAP financials.

Responsibilities

• Support accounting for SVOD, Live TV, and Premium Add-On subscription offerings.
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for key balance sheet and expense accounts during quarter-end close.
• Review distribution, bundling, and carriage agreements and work with the SFAA to operationalize contractual terms for monthly and quarterly license fee, revenue share, and bounty fee accruals, as well as monthly statement calculations.
• Build, maintain, and enhance relationships with internal and external business partners.
• Perform analytical reviews and variance analyses for key financial and operating metrics.
• Troubleshoot accounting issues in the system and propose solutions to management, exercising judgment about when to escalate issues.
• Identify process-improvement opportunities, including use of AI and efficiency tools such as Alteryx, and help test and implement solutions.
• Operate internal controls effectively and help update SOX process documentation as needed.
• Support the annual financial statement audit.
• Support ad hoc analyses, special projects, and business initiatives.
