About The Position

The Accounting & Finance Manager is a hands-on, single-incumbent role responsible for the full cycle of accounting operations for a growing nonprofit organization. This individual will manage day-to-day financial activities, ensure accuracy and compliance, and serve as the internal lead for financial systems integration across fundraising, payroll, payables, and accounting platforms. This role requires both strong technical accounting expertise and the ability to operate independently, while also partnering with leadership to provide clear financial insight that supports mission-driven decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (nonprofit preferred)
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online
  • Experience with at least two of the following systems: Bloomerang (or similar fundraising CRM), ADP, Bill.com
  • Demonstrated ability to manage full-cycle accounting independently
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skill

Nice To Haves

  • Nonprofit accounting experience (including fund accounting)
  • Experience with system integrations or data mapping
  • Familiarity with audit preparation and Form 990 support
  • CPA or equivalent experience (not required)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and oversee all accounting functions using QuickBooks Online
  • Manage general ledger, journal entries, and monthly close process
  • Reconcile all bank, credit card, and clearing accounts
  • Maintain accurate chart of accounts aligned with nonprofit reporting needs
  • Ensure proper revenue and expense classification, including restricted vs. unrestricted funds
  • Process and oversee accounts payable
  • Ensure timely vendor payments and proper approvals
  • Maintain vendor records and 1099 compliance
  • Monitor monthly AP volume (~250 transactions)
  • Prepare billings and required backup documentation and reimbursement tracking for contracts and grants receivables
  • Ensure proper integration and reconciliation between Bloomerang and QBO
  • Maintain donor revenue integrity between CRM and accounting system
  • Provide cash handling and accounting support for fundraising events
  • Coordinate payroll processing via ADP
  • Ensure payroll entries are properly recorded and reconciled in QuickBooks Online
  • Monitor employee benefits, deductions, and allocations across programs
  • Support HR with payroll-related compliance as needed
  • Prepare monthly financial statements: Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Activities, Budget vs. Actual reports
  • Provide insights and variance analysis to leadership
  • Support board reporting and finance committee materials
  • Assist in annual budget preparation and monitoring
  • Prepare documentation for audits, reviews, and Form 990
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and internal controls
  • Serve as internal lead for financial system integrations between QuickBooks Online, Bloomerang, and ADP
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Work with external consultants or vendors as needed for system optimization
  • Maintain strong internal controls across all financial processes
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations and grant requirements
  • Monitor cash flow and financial health of the organization
