About The Position

A well-established company in Honolulu is seeking an experienced Accounting & Finance Manager to oversee and manage the company's day-to-day accounting and finance operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who is ready to take the next step in their career and play a key role in supporting the company's financial operations, reporting, and business growth. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional with strong leadership skills, solid financial knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively in both Japanese and English. Japanese/English bilingual proficiency is required. Candidates must be currently based in Hawaii or willing to relocate to Hawaii. This is a hybrid position, with approximately 1–2 days per week in the Honolulu office. Remote work may be considered for qualified Hawaii-based candidates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
  • Active CPA license
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
  • At least 3 years of management or supervisory experience
  • Fluent business-level Japanese and English
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Office
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Experience in the travel, tourism, or tour operation industry
  • Experience working with a multinational company or regional/headquarters organization
  • Experience working in a bilingual Japanese/English business environment

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting and finance operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting
  • Manage month-end, quarterly, and annual closing processes
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and management reports
  • Monitor cash flow and support effective management of company funds
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, applicable tax regulations, and company policies
  • Maintain and improve accounting procedures, systems, and internal controls
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and respond to audit inquiries
  • Prepare financial reports and analysis for executive management and headquarters
  • Supervise, support, and mentor accounting team members
  • Manage company insurance policies and related documentation
  • Collaborate with other departments on financial matters and special projects
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business operations and decision-making
