About The Position

The Accounting Coordinator provides administrative and accounting support to the Finance Department at Meritage Resort & Spa. This position assists with daily accounting activities, accounts payable and receivable, cash handling and reconciliation, financial documentation, data entry, and month-end closing processes. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced hospitality environment. The Accounting Coordinator works closely with the Finance team and various resort departments to ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1–2 years of accounting, bookkeeping, administrative, or related experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, HMS, Silverware, Sertify, Delphi
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the work environment as required.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry files, documents, and office supplies.

Nice To Haves

  • college coursework or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous hotel, resort, restaurant, or hospitality accounting experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, or holidays when required by business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily administrative and accounting support to the Finance Department.
  • Process, organize, and maintain invoices, receipts, deposits, expense reports, and other financial documentation.
  • Assist with accounts payable functions, including invoice entry, coding, matching, and payment processing.
  • Assist with accounts receivable activities, including posting payments, researching balances, and maintaining customer accounts.
  • Perform daily cash and credit card reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist with the review and reconciliation of hotel, restaurant, spa, events, and other resort revenue.
  • Enter accounting data accurately into the appropriate financial systems.
  • Assist with bank, credit card, general ledger, and other account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and maintain spreadsheets, reports, and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies in financial transactions and account balances.
  • Maintain organized and accurate accounting files and records.
  • Assist with the preparation of documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Respond to accounting inquiries from resort departments, vendors, and other business partners in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial, employee, vendor, and company information.
  • Follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Provide support for special accounting projects and other duties as assigned.
