About The Position

EJF Real Estate Services is seeking a highly organized Accounting Compliance Manager to own and coordinate tax, audit, and financial compliance processes across our portfolio of managed condominium and homeowners associations. This is an ideal opportunity for an accounting professional who thrives on managing deadlines, solving problems, creating organized processes, and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks. Instead, you’ll serve as the central point of coordination between our internal teams, client boards, tax preparers, auditors, and government agencies.

  • 3+ years of experience in accounting operations, tax administration, audit coordination, financial compliance, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume, recurring deadlines across multiple entities, clients, or accounts.
  • Experience coordinating with tax preparers, auditors, government agencies, or other professional service providers.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to independently research issues, resolve discrepancies, and follow through to completion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting or financial management systems.
  • Ability to lead, delegate, monitor work quality, and hold assigned resources accountable.

Nice To Haves

  • Community association, HOA, condominium, or property management accounting experience.
  • Familiarity with federal and state tax requirements for corporate or association entities.
  • Experience with IRS and state tax agency portals such as EFTPS, DC MyTax, and Maryland tax systems.
  • Experience with Vantaca.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and track federal, state, and local tax filing requirements and deadlines across multiple associations.
  • Coordinate tax return and extension preparation with internal resources and external tax preparers.

  • Monitor filing status and proactively follow up to keep deliverables on track.
  • Establish and maintain state tax accounts and registrations for clients.
  • Prepare and file required personal property tax returns.
  • Coordinate real property tax payment processing with applicable state and local authorities.
  • Maintain annual 1098 and 1099 reporting data.
  • Coordinate preparation and distribution of 1096, 1098, and 1099 reporting.
  • Coordinate annual client audits from initiation through completion.
  • Serve as a liaison between auditors, internal accounting teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Track outstanding requests, documentation, deadlines, and deliverables to keep audits moving forward.
  • Respond to Board and internal staff inquiries regarding tax and audit matters.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies, escalating complex matters when appropriate.
  • Oversee assigned accounting compliance tasks associated with client onboarding and offboarding.
  • Lead and delegate work to assigned resources while monitoring quality, deadlines, and completion.
