About The Position

The Bookkeeper / Accounting Clerk is responsible for managing the full-cycle bookkeeping for a portfolio of properties. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and comfortable handling a wide range of accounting and administrative responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Accounting degree, diploma, or certificate.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of bookkeeping or directly related accounting experience.
  • Proficient in Sage 50 Accounting Software, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growing environment.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with property management systems
  • Knowledge of tenant billing and lease structures

Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle bookkeeping for properties
  • Prepare and issue invoices to tenants
  • Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances
  • Process accounts payable, including vendor payments
  • Perform intercompany reconciliations
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations
  • Contact and follow up with utility companies, contractors, and municipalities, vendors for account setup, disconnections, invoice revisions, and inquiries.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining office supplies, managing correspondence, handling inquiries, responding to emails, printing, scanning, filing, and dealing with mail & courier items.
  • Attend banking institutions to make deposits and manage transactions
  • Collect rent payments and maintain accurate tenant records
  • Prepare reconciliations for government filings. (e,g, HST , T5018 etc)
  • Assist with preparation of year-end reconciliations and supporting documentation
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
  • Support other accounting and administrative duties as required
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information while ensuring compliance with company policies.
