About The Position

Aery Aviation is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Accounting Associate to support financial operations for an aviation company. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with government accounting standards, compliance, and audits, and is comfortable working in a regulated, fast-paced environment that includes contracts, grants, and federal/state reporting requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of progressive accounting experience; experience in aviation or transportation industry strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with government accounting, contract/grant accounting, and federal/state reporting requirements.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and applicable government regulations (FAR, CAS, OMB).
  • Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks Online) and MS Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting government audits (DCAA, OIG, single audits).
  • Familiarity with aviation-specific financial issues (aircraft leases, maintenance accounting, FAA grant programs).
  • Experience working in Rippling.

Responsibilities

  • Process and record day-to-day accounting transactions: AP, AR, general ledger entries, bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries and account reconciliations on a regular cycle.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities; prepare supporting schedules and variance analyses.
  • Assist with government contract accounting: cost allowability, indirect cost rates, timekeeping support, and allocation of costs to contracts/grants.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (e.g., FAR, CAS, OMB Uniform Guidance) and internal policies.
  • Prepare financial reports and schedules required for government submissions, audits, and grant reporting.
  • Coordinate and respond to internal and external audit requests; support audit preparation and follow-up.
  • Work with project managers, contract administrators, and program staff to ensure proper billing and revenue recognition for government-funded projects.
  • Maintain accurate fixed asset records and support capitalization, depreciation, and disposals.
  • Support invoicing, collections, and cash application; follow up on past-due accounts, especially for government customers.
  • Maintain accounting documentation and process controls; recommend and implement improvements to streamline workflows.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling for aviation projects as needed.
  • Adhere to safety, security, and confidentiality protocols specific to the aviation industry.
