About The Position

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and School is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support the financial operations of our parish and school. This part-time position (24 hours per week) offers a flexible schedule and is ideal for an individual with accounting, bookkeeping, or financial administration experience who enjoys working in a mission-driven environment. The Accounting Assistant will work closely with the Accounting Manager and Parish Administration team to ensure accurate financial recordkeeping and timely processing of financial transactions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree or coursework in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • Previous bookkeeping, accounting, or accounts payable experience.
  • Experience with accounting software and financial reporting.
  • Experience working in a church, school, nonprofit, or similar environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices and payment requests.
  • Verify supporting documentation and approvals.
  • Prepare checks and electronic payments.
  • Maintain vendor files and records.
  • Assist with vendor inquiries and account reconciliations.
  • Enter and post financial transactions into the accounting system.
  • Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems.
  • Support parish and school financial operations as needed.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for internal review.
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures.
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Assist with annual audits and financial reviews.
  • Support preparation of financial reports for parish leadership and councils.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all financial and personnel information.
  • Assist with special projects and financial analysis as assigned.
  • Collaborate with parish and school staff to ensure smooth financial operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
