About The Position

The Accounting Assistant II maintains accurate financial records and provides accounting and bookkeeping support. This role assists University staff in understanding industry standards, current laws, and university policy related to financial affairs. Additionally, the Accounting Assistant II provides guidance and training to entry-level Accounting Assistants. Within the Institute of Data and Analytics (IDA), this position supports daily operations, assists with budget reporting and maintenance, facilitates business and research meetings, manages logistic functions for IDA faculty, staff, and visitors, and supports the Culverhouse Associate Dean of Faculty and Research. Responsibilities include preparing financial paperwork such as ePAs, MDVs, and DTAs, assisting with travel reimbursements, monthly account reconciliations, P-card reconciliations, room reservations, coordinating meetings, and purchasing supplies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR associate's degree or higher.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite of office products.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to be self-motivated.
  • Ability to prioritize workflow and work with individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to be customer and service oriented.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation.

Responsibilities
