About The Position

This position manages accounting responsibilities for the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park (IQMP). The role involves preparing financial reporting, reconciling payments, performing grant accounting, and supporting procurement and contract administration. It requires integral knowledge of University policies, procurement, and accounting procedures. The position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement but requires regular presence in Chicago and is not eligible for sponsorship. The Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park is a new facility focused on quantum scale-up and advanced microelectronics research and development, aiming to establish Illinois as a global hub for quantum technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Accountancy or a related field AND five (5) years of professional level accounting experience.
  • OR Possession of current registration as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant, or a valid license to practice Public Accounting (LPA).
  • OR Master's degree in Accountancy or a related field.
  • General knowledge of accounting principles, including cost analysis, budget review, journal entries and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems such as Quickbooks and advanced use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Excellent keyboarding, grammar and proofreading skills to ensure accuracy and minimize errors in data entry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that reflect courtesy, diplomacy and a collaborative approach to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and to exercise good judgment and discretion in the performance of work assignments.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work accordingly to meet deadlines while staying on task with daily assignments.
  • Knowledge and respect for policies and procedures of the University of Illinois and State of Illinois.
  • Knowledge and awareness of federal grants and University grants and contracts management.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with UIUC software systems and procedures.
  • Experience with Quickbooks.
  • Real estate or property management accounting and lease administration experience.
  • Possession of a current registration as a Certified Public Accountant OR a valid license to practice Public Accounting.
  • Proficiency in Banner Financial System and other University financial systems such as FabWeb, iCS contract system, Emburse and Chrome River.

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting and expense reporting for all IQMP accounts and University related accounts, including state and federal grant awards.
  • Provide periodic reports and supporting documentation to sponsored agencies as required.
  • Complete monthly reconciliation of all accounts in a timely manner.
  • Serve as primary resource for approving iBuy, P-Card and T-Card transactions.
  • Process vendor payments and travel/expense reimbursements in Emburse.
  • Upload and reconcile transactions into Quickbooks for IQMP, LLC.
  • Manage IQMP fixed asset depreciation in Quickbooks.
  • Independently keep abreast of changes or updates to University policies and procedures as they relate to accounting systems and procedures.
  • Prepare schedules, worksheets, documentation, and correspondence for internal and external audits.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for IQMP operations, including allocation of expenditures by activity and budget line, and classification of revenue in appropriate categories.
  • Develop and present financial statements for IQMP leadership including the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Board of Managers as requested, including annual budgets, year to date projections, reserve statements, debt obligations, and revenue/expenditure forecasts.
  • Perform financial analyses, account reconciliations, and budget reviews to support IQMP and NQF programs.
  • Monitor cash flow and initiate fund transfers for grant advances between the University and IQMP, LLC.
  • Manage IQMP inventory and property, including consumable supplies, furniture, lab equipment, and computers using University systems such as FABWeb.
  • Manage IQMP fixed assets and University fixed assets located in IQMP facilities.
  • Support and coordinate the creation of consultant contracts using established templates.
  • Maintain and update documentation to support operational procedures related to the position.
