About The Position

The Manager is a dynamic and hands-on financial leader responsible for overseeing the company's financial health. This role involves managing accounting operations, implementing financial controls, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The Finance Manager will also lead the finance and accounting team to achieve high performance and accuracy in financial reporting.

Requirements

  • 5 years of finance or accounting leadership experience, preferably in electrical, specialty, or general construction.
  • Experience with accounting, reconciliation, accounts receivable, financial analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in BuildOps, Kojo, or comparable construction-management and purchasing systems.
  • Strong skills in job costing and Excel pivot tables.
  • CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional certification.

  • Ability to work with and connect across different departments.
  • Experience interacting with ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with web-based systems such as Kojo and BuildOps.
  • Capability to write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Strong business acumen alongside bookkeeping skills.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise, coach, and develop finance and accounting employees.
  • Establish clear responsibilities, priorities, and performance standards for each employee.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, department meetings, and formal performance reviews.
  • Assign and balance workloads while ensuring appropriate separation of financial duties.
  • Review employee work for accuracy and provide constructive feedback.
  • Address performance concerns directly and consistently, including corrective action when necessary.
  • Hire, onboard, train, and retain qualified accounting personnel.
  • Cross-train employees and maintain documented coverage plans for financial processes.
  • Lead employees through process and technology changes in financial systems.
  • Build a department culture based on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Create, maintain, and enforce documented accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Lead the monthly and annual financial close processes.
  • Develop and manage the annual operating budget and rolling financial forecasts.
  • Prepare cash-flow forecasts and monitor financial liquidity and working capital.
  • Identify control weaknesses and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate job-cost records and project financial reporting.
  • Partner with Project Managers for financial reviews and reporting.
  • Monitor and evaluate the financial impact of change orders on projects.
  • Ensure accuracy in progress billing, pay applications, and collections.
  • Oversee financial systems and data integrity across various platforms.
  • Ensure accounts payable are processed accurately and on time.
  • Manage accounts-receivable aging and collection efforts.
  • Oversee payroll processing and ensure accurate financial record-keeping.
  • Produce timely and accurate financial statements and reports.
  • Coordinate external audits and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
