About The Position

BCBST is hiring an Accounting Analyst for its Incentives, Benefits & Reconciliation Accounting department. The role supports employee and retiree benefit accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and work with large datasets to identify variances and trends. It helps ensure accurate and reliable financial information. The position is fully remote, with occasional requested travel to Chattanooga for events; preference is given to candidates within 50 miles of Chattanooga. Sponsorship is not available.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent work experience. Equivalent work experience is defined as four years of experience in a related field.
• Three years of work experience in an accounting or financial position.
• Public accounting experience is weighted as two years of applicable work experience for each year in public accounting.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior leadership teams.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or in a team environment, sharing responsibility, roles, and accountability.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work as a team player, stay organized, and handle multiple projects.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Proven priority-setting and project management skills.
• Strong Excel skills, attention to detail, organization, and a proactive approach to learning.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reporting, and analysis.
• Identify and research trends and developments.
• Lead special projects and ad-hoc reporting requests.
• Collaborate with others to identify process improvements.
• Support employee and retiree benefit accounting.
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Perform variance analysis and use large datasets to identify variances and trends.
