Our client is a highly respected, mission-driven organization that plays an important role in supporting the local community. They are looking for an Accounting & Administrative Assistant to join their team on a full-time, contract-to-hire basis. This position is a great fit for someone with experience in AP/AR, bookkeeping, payroll, data entry, or general office administration who enjoys variety and is comfortable helping with different areas of the business. You'll work closely with the Business Manager and team to keep day-to-day administrative and financial tasks organized and on track.

Requirements

  • Some experience with AP/AR, bookkeeping, accounting support, payroll, or related administrative work
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • The ability to manage recurring tasks and deadlines
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online is highly preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work independently while also being part of a team
  • A willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
  • A helpful, team-oriented attitude and a willingness to pitch in where needed

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Recent graduates with relevant coursework, internship experience, or prior office/accounting experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll and assist with routine payroll-related tasks
  • Enter and maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable information
  • Assist with monthly financial entries and general bookkeeping
  • Maintain accurate records and perform routine data entry
  • Coordinate employee schedules and communicate schedule changes as needed
  • Assist with new-hire onboarding and orientation
  • Maintain personnel files and assist with basic employee/benefit-related questions
  • Provide general office support, including filing, correspondence, data entry, and document preparation
  • Work with QuickBooks Online and other cloud-based systems
  • Assist with fundraising-related administrative tasks, including payment processing and database updates
  • Help with website updates, social media, events, and other organizational projects as needed
  • Provide support with grant-related administrative tasks and research
  • Jump in to help wherever needed to keep the office running smoothly
