About The Position

Essential Functions (Responsibilities) Prepare and maintain financial statements and reports, summarizing museum financial activities. Manage the general ledger: record and track transactions to ensure accurate financial records. Analyze financial data to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making. Oversee the purchasing process to ensure accurate financial tracking, cost efficiency, and compliance with company policies. Monitor grant and donation revenue, ensuring compliance with fund restrictions. Reconcile accounts payable and receivable, including timely vendor payments and receipts tracking. Requirements

  • Proficient in financial reporting, general ledger, and data analysis
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Oracle/PeopleSoft) and MS Excel
  • Familiarity with nonprofit fund accounting and compliance associated with grants and donations
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving
  • Effective communication skills and team collaboration within academic/nonprofit frameworks
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit or museum settings

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with fund accounting in arts, cultural institutions, or higher education
  • CPA or actively pursuing certification
  • Familiarity with IRS Form 990 reporting and nonprofit compliance
  • Ability to engage with cross-functional teams, including Development, Operations, and University finance
