About The Position

Gratiot Integrated Health Network (GIHN) has an immediate opening for a full-time salaried Accountant. The individual for this position should be a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant with a degree in Accounting or previous experience in the role. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or three years experience in an Accounting position.
  • Demonstrated understanding of accounting concepts, proficient in computer and data processing, and a minimum of one year of job-related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer software, specifically Microsoft Office Suite and other various accounting platforms.
  • Must demonstrate high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Must show attention to detail in accounting practices, composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Must exhibit strong spelling, grammar and both oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated sensitivity, knowledge and use of appropriate approaches, skills and techniques which reflect an understanding and awareness of standard accounting practices.

Responsibilities

  • Completes data and journal entries, invoicing, and reconciliations within established timeframes.
  • Assists with the preparation of salary budget, prepares assigned segments of salary budget, completes data input, updates and amendments to the salary budget and prepares salary budget reports.
  • Accurately completes the payroll process within established timeframes.
  • Accurately completes the Accounts Payable process within established timeframes,.
  • Prepares Grant Budgets, works with appropriate Department to gather information and track the related expenses.
  • Audits GIHN petty cash on an annual basis, at minimum.
  • Prepares for segments of various audits, as directed by the CFO.
  • Aids the CFO with special projects and statistical reporting related to payroll and A/P.
  • Ensures incoming financial deposits are completed in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Ensures general ledger is in balance and posts appropriate entries as necessary.
  • Works with the provider network, including contracts, credentialing, claims adjudication, and customer service.
  • Prepares data for retirement uploads.
  • Works with the Reimbursement Specialist to assure accurate and timely Accounts Receivable reporting.
  • Protects the security, confidentiality and integrity of all protected health information in a manner that is consistent with policy and procedure.
  • Assures consumers’ rights are protected and recipient rights procedures are followed throughout GIHN and its provider network.
  • Attends and actively participates in required trainings as well as seeks external education opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • Abides by all applicable GIHN policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Performs work and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
