About The Position

The Office of Fiscal Services is seeking to hire an Accountant at the Bureau of Collection Services located in Springfield, Illinois. Under general supervision, performs professional accounting functions in the Revenue Management-Financial Review Unit, maintains the Department’s Accounts Receivables and collection records for programs in the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS), Bureau of Child Care & Development and numerous other offices, including Division of Mental Health and Division of Developmental Disabilities Facilities. Processes recipient accounts from Facility Resource Units for assistance in collection efforts. Monitors the facilities’ aging reports by reviewing accounts one year and older. Serves as liaison with the Department of Healthcare and Family Services auditors on hospital reimbursements due to the Department. Reviews and prepares Accounts Receivable reports from SAP and the Accounts Receivable System (ARS) for selected types of Accounts Receivables and as mandated by the Illinois State Collection Act of 1986. Assists with the disposition/resolution of audit findings relating to Accounts Receivable. Reviews delinquent accounts to determine if criteria for write-offs are met.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting OR four (4) years of technical accounting experience.
  • Qualifying state employees, in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.
