About The Position

The Accountant ensures the accuracy of the formation contained in the accounting system by processing accounting information collected by interfacing with internal and external departments and outside agencies. The Accountant balances accounts, makes adjustments and journal entries, and prepares financial statements and reports. Responsibilities must be performed in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent education required.
  • Two (2) years of experience as an Accountant or equivalent role.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures and the ability to learn, understand, and follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong computer skills with ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members, and Management in both written and verbal form.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to obtain UAIC Tribal Gaming License.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Accounting or business-related degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Practice, support, and promote Thunder Valley Casino Resort’s “ELITE” company-wide service mission and demonstrate AAA Four Diamond service standards at all times.
  • Assist with the departmental interface with appropriate internal and external departments, agencies, and companies.
  • Receive, collect, verify, organize, analyze, balance and/or input property-related accounting information as required.
  • Prepare, upload, and post journal entries into the accounting system.
  • Ensure supporting documentation is provided as required. Handle any exceptions according to policy.
  • Prepare budgets, financial statements, and management and regulatory reports as required, and ensure they reconcile with supporting documentation. Maintain awareness for discrepancies or suspicious circumstances and investigate as required.
  • Perform periodic compliance audits as required.
  • Assist with daily gaming and nongaming audits as required.
  • Resolve Guest issues (credit cards, tax forms, ATM disputes, etc.) as required.
  • Work with gaming and nongaming department managers to resolve any accounting related issues.
  • Prepare periodic balance sheet and bank account reconciliations.
  • Assist in gathering and providing information to auditors and regulatory authorities.
  • Prepare and file sales and use tax returns.
