About The Position

Analyze, document, and review financial transactions to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with internal controls. Support audit requests and prepare ad hoc financial reports as needed. Collaborate with team members to continuously improve processes and strengthen internal controls. This position is hybrid. NYC Salary Range: $80,070 - $90,000 annually: compensation is commensurate to geographic location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience in banking or financial services
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices (GAAP), including accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, amortization, consolidations, and internal control best practices; banking or credit union experience preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with the ability to improve workflows, validate data, and perform detailed financial analysis with high accuracy.
  • Excellent critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate across teams, manage multiple priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Lease Accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, vendor maintenance, and payment processing in compliance with company policies and controls
  • Prepare monthly reporting packages, support AP reporting, and continuously analyze and improve accounting processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Update the credit union’s Accounting Procedures Manual as required or requested
  • Support internal, external, and regulatory audits (NCUA, CPA, internal) by performing reconciliations, monitoring transactions, and contributing to the effectiveness of internal controls
  • Provide ad hoc analyses, assist team members as needed, and perform additional duties to support overall accounting and operational objectives
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations and UNFCU’s Code of Ethics & Business Conduct
