About The Position

This is a highly responsible professional accounting work in managing the fiscal reporting activities in DCFS. The work involves office responsibility for implementing financial operational policies and procedures, maintaining and controlling bank reconciliations and coordinating the activities of the Bank Reconciliation Unit to ensure and provide accurate and timely financial reporting. Requirements

  • Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics; OR An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements and maintains internal controls to ensure adequate treatment of documents and the appropriate application of rules, regulations and procedures as they relate to the liquidation of agency employee and employer liabilities.
  • Daily processes stop payments, positive pay exception decisions, reverse positive pay decisions, Centralized Bank Reconciliation System exceptions, and reconciles bank file transmissions.
  • Prepares financial reports used by the Department of Children and Family Services Administration, the Legislative Auditor's Office, Division of Administration, and the State Treasurer's Office monthly, quarterly and annually.
  • Participates in the development, design and implementation of new automated information systems and the enhancements to existing systems.
  • Performs duties necessary for the smooth operations of the Department.
