About The Position

The Town of Marana is seeking an Accountant to work in the Finance Department. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Over one year of experience in accounting/finance.
  • Must complete the Town of Marana Background check.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration or closely related field.
  • Governmental accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in Access.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in maintaining the general ledger including the preparation of journal entries; assists with the financial audits.
  • Reconciles balance sheet accounts, including accounts receivable for various grants and CIP projects; prepares periodic reimbursement requests.
  • Prepares reports, such as unclaimed property and financial surveys.
  • Provides support by assisting on various projects and answering general accounting inquiries as needed, including tax related questions.
