About The Position

Lawrence Paper Company, with over 140 years of experience in paper and corrugated box production and packaging services across the Midwest, is seeking a dedicated and dependable Accountant / Cost Accountant to join their accounting team. This role will contribute to ensuring compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures, and controls, and will be instrumental in month-end close processes, cost analysis, and financial reporting.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in accounting or similar business field required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work efficiently and effectively with little supervision required.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Products, including Excel.
Team player with the willingness to interact with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

Manufacturing experience highly desired, but not required.

Responsibilities

Work with business partners, internal and external, to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls.
Assisting with month-end close by preparing journal entries, creating schedules, and analyzing variances.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting.
Maintaining accurate product costs and estimating rates.
Track manufacturing variances and have a solid understanding of inventory movements and accuracy.
Analyzing cost records in a job cost environment.
Analyzing financial statements and understand where variances may exist.
Assisting with monthly and quarterly reporting for internal and external sources.
Preparing documentation for external auditors.
Recommending ways to reduce costs and enhance revenue.
