About The Position

Lawrence Paper Company, with over 140 years of experience in paper and corrugated box production and packaging services across the Midwest, is seeking a dedicated and dependable Accountant / Cost Accountant to join their accounting team. This role will contribute to ensuring compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures, and controls, and will be instrumental in month-end close processes, cost analysis, and financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or similar business field required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively with little supervision required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products, including Excel.
  • Team player with the willingness to interact with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing experience highly desired, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with business partners, internal and external, to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls.
  • Assisting with month-end close by preparing journal entries, creating schedules, and analyzing variances.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Maintaining accurate product costs and estimating rates.
  • Track manufacturing variances and have a solid understanding of inventory movements and accuracy.
  • Analyzing cost records in a job cost environment.
  • Analyzing financial statements and understand where variances may exist.
  • Assisting with monthly and quarterly reporting for internal and external sources.
  • Preparing documentation for external auditors.
  • Recommending ways to reduce costs and enhance revenue.
