About The Position

Cetera Financial Group is currently seeking a talented and passionate Staff Accountant to join our team. This role is responsible for various aspects of accounting for an assigned broker-dealer, as well as managing collections processes. The Staff Accountant will assist with implementing process improvements to help streamline operations and enhance efficiencies, promote analysis and communication of results, provide proactive customer service to business partners, and serve as a key point of contact between internal teams and external advisors. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who collaborates well with team members and is eager to learn.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with solid understanding of GAAP
  • 2+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, communication and follow-up skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Highly motivated, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to maintain meticulous records while focusing on accuracy and key details
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet deadlines and complete required tasks
  • Strong computer skills with intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Oracle, Blackline, Alteryx, and Tableau desired
  • Prior experience in the broker-dealer or financial services industry preferred
  • CPA license a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the monthly closing process, including preparation of journal entries, financial statements, and related variance and account analysis
  • Maintain balance sheet schedules, prepare balance sheet reconciliations, and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner
  • Support quarterly and year-end financial reporting and audit deliverables for assigned broker-dealers and consolidated entities
  • Administer and maintain Broker/Rep loan details across the organization
  • Compile loan documents in preparation for funding
  • Record loan related activity to the general ledger (fundings, payments, reserves)
  • Manage outbound correspondence, including preparing and mailing letters to clients and advisors
  • Follow up on outstanding balances and support collections efforts in a timely manner
  • Maintain organized records of account activity, communications, and payment status
  • Provide administrative and documentation support to the Legal team as needed
  • Support other functions (e.g., FP&A, Technical Accounting) with requests and projects
  • Perform ad hoc duties as assigned by management
