About The Position

Merchants Fleet is seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience in financial reporting, cash reconciliation, and process improvements, while collaborating across departments to support the company’s financial health. This is a hybrid role based at our Headquarters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 0–3 years of experience in public or private accounting
  • Knowledge of GAAP
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • A fast learner with intellectual curiosity and a can-do attitude
  • Comfortable working independently and with large data sets

Nice To Haves

  • CPA/MBA a plus
  • Lease Accounting experience a plus
  • Experience with Great Plains Dynamics, Adra, Planful, Dataserv, or SQL a plus

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate documentation and integrity of financial transactions
  • Manage daily cash reconciliations for multiple bank accounts
  • Support month-end close and financial reporting, including account analysis and reconciliations
  • Provide audit support and prepare schedules for annual financial audits
  • Assist with cashflow forecasting and treasury-related reporting
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency
  • Work with large data sets and system integrations to ensure accurate financial results
