About The Position

NGK Automotive Ceramics USA, Inc. is seeking an Accountant to support its Accounting, Finance, and Business Strategy departments. The primary responsibilities include completing daily tasks to ensure departmental functionality and efficiency, documenting processes and procedures, and assisting with financial reporting and analysis. This is a hybrid role requiring 2-3 days in the office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of general bookkeeping, audits, and basic accounting procedures, including managing daily financial transactions (expenses, payroll, sales revenues, intercompany transactions, reconciliations, banking, and cash).
  • Understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles (GAAP, J-SOX).
  • Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
  • Data entry skills with analytical thinking.
  • Hands-on experience and proficiency with MS Office, MS Excel, and ERP software.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Task-oriented with a strong sense of priority and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Record daily bank transactions for cash flow reporting and accuracy.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliation and cash posting to the general ledger, monitoring cash balances.
  • Monitor corporate credit card balances for accuracy, fraud prevention, and GL posting/reconciliation.
  • Assist Accounts Receivable (A/R) with issuing invoices, monitoring, and updating A/R and collections.
  • Maintain a six-week forecast of intercompany loans and ensure balances are within required thresholds.
  • Work with the ERP vendor to maintain system performance and enhancements.
  • Communicate month-end requirements, prepare reporting, and maintain records for audit purposes.
  • Assist in processing ACH, check, and wire payments for third-party and intercompany obligations.
  • Maintain the vendor list in the ERP and track spending by vendor monthly.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of required financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual).
  • Maintain inventory files, analyze purchase and sales transactions, and post to the general ledger monthly.
  • Maintain invoicing and ERP applications to ensure inventory matches in both.
  • Participate in the annual physical inventory in North Carolina.
  • Maintain ERP modules every month to ensure transactions are processed and posted to the correct period.
  • Assist in the monthly/quarterly/annual closings.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements.
  • Analyze and maintain general ledger (GL) account transactions.
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by reviewing and analyzing account postings.
  • Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements, and other statements per legal and company finance and accounting guidelines.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of journal entries for accuracy and accounting classifications.
  • Maintain fixed asset files and record fixed assets and depreciation in the ERP.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of tax forms.
  • Participate in the process of price lists and tariff tracking.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Participate in the budget process and required reporting to management and corporate HQ.
  • Manage damaged parts claims.
  • Create and maintain scrap parts lists through plant communication and ERP.
  • Input orders, forecasts, and slow stock to HQ.
  • Calculate interest rates, transportation fees, and agent commissions.
  • Maintain financial security by following internal controls and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company policies, regulations, and laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor and senior management, including Accounting and Business Strategy support.
