About The Position

Help Build the Financial Foundation Behind Growing Broadband Infrastructure At Fibersmith, we help telecom providers expand broadband access through engineering, design, construction support, and technology solutions. Behind that work is a financial team that keeps the business moving with accuracy, organization, and thoughtful decision-making. We’re looking for a full-time Accountant to join our Columbia, Missouri office. This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys digging into the details, keeping financial information clean and accurate, and helping leadership understand the numbers behind the business. If you are organized, reliable, and ready to take ownership of day-to-day accounting operations in a growing company, this could be a great next step.

Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • CPA is a plus, but not required
  • 5+ years of accounting experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and close processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Clear communication skills and a professional, team-focused approach

Nice To Haves

  • Multi-entity accounting experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Maintaining general ledger activity and supporting month-end and year-end close
  • Preparing financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and other management reporting
  • Reviewing transactions for accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with company processes
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning efforts
  • Assisting with audits, documentation, and GAAP compliance
  • Reconciling accounts and researching discrepancies
  • Helping leadership understand financial trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Recommending process improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and visibility
  • Supporting other accounting and finance tasks as assigned
