Accountant - Sales Tax - 100% Remote
About The Position
LedgerGurus is seeking a full-time eCommerce sales tax accountant to join their remote team. This role offers the opportunity to work with sales tax without the stress of traditional tax season, and provides training for those new to eCommerce sales tax. The position is designed to make employees irreplaceable by teaching them the art of sales tax. LedgerGurus is a remote, virtual outsourced accounting firm specializing in eCommerce accounting for small and medium-sized businesses. They aim to be the accounting department for their clients or work alongside existing finance teams. Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience
- Solid grasp on technology and ability to learn new programs easily
- Ability and confidence to troubleshoot independently
- Confident and strong written and verbal communication skills to correspond with other teams and clients
- Desire to learn eCommerce sales tax accounting
- Full-time availability (40 hours a week)
- Must live in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Florida, Kansas, or Arizona.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelors degree in accounting or finance
- Experience with QuickBooks
- Knowledge of state and federal sales tax laws and requirements
- Experience with Sales Tax software (i.e. Avalara, TaxJar)
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Prepare and transmit accurate and timely sales and use tax returns to jurisdictions in accordance with the client tax calendar.
- Perform state registrations and de-registrations.
- Reconcile payments made on behalf of the client.
- Proactively communicate with clients to resolve sales tax questions and concerns.
- Work with the assigned accounting manager.
- Troubleshoot independently when problems arise using strong Excel and technology skills.
- Manipulate data and understand how eCommerce accounting fits into the big picture of a client’s financial statements.
