About The Position

TechSource, a Salas O'Brien company, is seeking an experienced, full-time Accountant Principal – Special Projects to join its Accounting team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This high-impact role reports to the Controller and works closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Controller to manage strategic projects across accounting and finance, enhance processes, and support organizational scalability. The position is onsite initially; a hybrid work schedule may be approved by the Controller after 2–4 months of training. The expected base salary range is $110,000–$115,000 per year. Actual compensation depends on skills, experience, qualifications, and location. The role is eligible for performance-based bonuses and a U.S.-based benefits package.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship is required.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
At least 7 years of relevant accounting and project management experience.
Strong analytical, research, and documentation skills.
Demonstrated project management experience and ability to drive initiatives from concept to execution.
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Unanet or similar ERP systems.
Federal government accounting work experience.
Master’s degree.
Budget creation and management experience.

Responsibilities

Evaluate, recommend, and implement improvements to existing accounting processes and workflows.
Support and strengthen accounting structures to ensure compliance and operational integrity.
Partner with IT and project controls to implement ERP system enhancements, particularly in project accounting and financial reporting.
Support indirect rate calculations.
Perform high-level accounting tasks.
Support other accounting special projects as directed by department leadership, including strategic requests, cross-functional projects, and compliance projects.
