About The Position

TechSource, a Salas O’Brien company, is seeking an experienced, full-time Accountant Principal – Special Projects to join its Accounting team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The role reports to the Controller and works closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Controller on strategic projects across accounting and finance, enhancing processes and supporting organizational scalability. The position is onsite initially; the Controller may approve a hybrid schedule after 2–4 months of training. TechSource is a nationally recognized engineering and scientific company that manages and delivers large-scale nuclear and high-technology projects for federal agencies and other government programs, national laboratories, national security facilities, and nuclear operations. The company reports a client retention rate of over 95 percent. The expected base salary is $110,000–$115,000 per year, with actual compensation determined by skills, experience, qualifications, and location. The position is eligible for performance-based bonuses and a U.S.-based benefits package. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship is required.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
Seven or more years of relevant accounting and project management experience.
Strong analytical, research, and documentation skills.
Demonstrated project management experience and ability to drive initiatives from concept to execution.
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Unanet or similar ERP systems.
Federal government accounting work experience.
Master’s degree.
Budget creation and management experience.

Responsibilities

Evaluate, recommend, and implement improvements to accounting processes and workflows.
Support and strengthen accounting structures to ensure compliance and operational integrity.
Partner with IT and project controls to implement ERP system enhancements, particularly in project accounting and financial reporting.
Support indirect rate calculations.
Perform high-level accounting tasks.
Support accounting special projects assigned by department leadership, including strategic requests, cross-functional projects, and compliance projects.
