This position is located in the Accounts Payable section of the Fiscal Division of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism. The Accountant II reviews and approves payments associated with purchase orders as well as direct invoice payments, ensuring each disbursement is properly supported, coded, and authorized in accordance with departmental and state fiscal policy. Additional responsibilities include reconciling vendor statements and resolving discrepancies with vendors and internal program staff, reconciling agency credit card accounts against the accounting system, processing complex utility invoices through mass upload spreadsheets, and reviewing and preparing vendor 1099s for annual reporting. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, advanced spreadsheet skills, and the ability to manage recurring deadlines while maintaining accurate and auditable payment records.The Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism has three major divisions: Arkansas State Parks, Arkansas Heritage and Arkansas Tourism. Arkansas Heritage preserves and promotes Arkansas’s natural and cultural history and heritage through four historic museums and four cultural preservation agencies. Arkansas Tourism improves the state’s economy by generating travel and enhancing the image of the state.
