Accountant II

About The Position

The Accountant II will be responsible for specific tasks performed in finance which include general ledger, reinsurance, account analysis, and compliance. This role involves creating recurring journal entries, assisting with month-end reports, preparing reinsurance billings and entries, reconciling accounts, generating GL data requests, and assisting with financial statement preparation and compliance filings. The position also requires collaboration with team members for close processes and ad-hoc projects.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business with a major in Accounting or Finance
2-4 years of experience in accounting or finance
Excellent PC skills, with a strong background in Microsoft Excel
A quick learner, with an ability to be flexible and have demonstrated skills to work effectively independently as well as in a team-oriented environment
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with attention to detail

Nice To Haves

Experience in Oracle
Property/Casualty insurance industry experience
Insurance accounting experience
IFRS accounting experience

Responsibilities

Create recurring journal entries based on standard monthly support as well as be point person for any ad-hoc entries
Assist in the preparation of month end reports to substantiate and document account balances
Prepare reinsurance billings, process resulting reinsurance journal entries and complete reinsurance tables and schedules
Prepare account reconciliations and investigate unusual items
Generate GL data requests
Assist in the timely preparation of the statutory financial statement and state compliance filings
Assist with gathering information for internal and external audit requests
Work closely with team members to coordinate monthly and quarterly close processes
Ad-hoc projects as requested
