About The Position

The Accountant II performs intermediate accounting duties, including the preparation of financial reports, analysis, and reconciliations. This role will support the finance team by overseeing more complex tasks, contributing to month-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and hospital policies. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
  • Three (3) years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by the Missouri Board of Accountancy or another state board.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare or hospital finance setting.
  • Strong understanding of hospital financial operations and billing processes.
  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments, ensuring all entries comply with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and hospital policies.
  • Perform complex account reconciliations, including general ledger, bank, and asset accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including variance analysis.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, providing accurate financial data and analysis.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements by reviewing and analyzing account balances.
  • Contribute to the month-end and year-end closing processes, including financial statement preparation.
  • Coordinate and provide documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure financial data is accurate and aligns with hospital objectives.
  • May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents
