About The Position

Boyd Gaming Corporation is seeking an Accountant General Ledger to prepare journal entries with supporting documentation, including revenue, AP accruals, payroll, and fixed asset entries, in accordance with GAAP. The role involves preparing monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts and reconciling cash activity throughout the month. The accountant will be responsible for meeting gaming revenue audit Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Additionally, the position requires performing ad-hoc tasks such as research, analysis, and reconciliations as directed by management. All duties must be performed in accordance with departmental and company policies, state and local laws, and GAAP. The accountant will also prepare journal entries for accounts not covered by specific exclusions, reconcile cash activity for Treasury reports, investigate and resolve financial statement questions from properties, and ensure timely completion of month-end close entries. Promoting effective communication and relationships with internal customers, maintaining integrity, and observing safety procedures are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP.
  • Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Excel/Word/Outlook, basic office equipment, and 10-key.
  • Ability to understand change management.
  • Working knowledge of state specific laws and requirements.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate ability to resolve all situations in a professional manner.

  • Previous knowledge and experience with Boyd Gaming Corporation financial systems (Lawson, Coupa).
  • Previous experience working in a similar casino resort or Financial Shared Services Center setting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries with supporting documentation (including revenue, AP accruals, payroll and fixed asset entries) in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts.
  • Reconcile cash activity throughout month.
  • Meet gaming revenue audit Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to properties and other key stakeholders.
  • Meet or exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to maximize services provided.
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks required by management including, but not limited to, research, analysis, and reconciliations.
  • Prepare journal entries for all accounts with supporting documentation (excluding revenue, AP accruals, payroll and fixed asset entries) in accordance with GAAP.
  • Reconcile cash activity throughout month and prepare cash activity reports as needed for Treasury.
  • Investigate and resolve financial statement questions from properties.
  • Ensure all journal entries for month-end close are completed within company month-end close deadline.
  • Promote, develop and maintain effective communication, interaction, and excellent relationship with internal customers, including ensuring their requirements are identified and consistently met.
  • Perform all functions with the highest level of integrity.
