About The Position

This role is for an Accountant with a focus on Development and Construction, operating on a 6-month contract basis. The ideal candidate is someone who loves numbers, is progressive, confident, and possesses a persistent approach to problem-solving while meeting tight deadlines. This seasoned accountant is known for attention to detail, welcomes challenges, and isn't afraid to ask tough questions. Collaboration and teamwork are essential. The position involves ensuring the accuracy of cost and financial reporting for projects, maintaining compliance with company policies, and demonstrating exceptional oral and written communication skills. The role requires organization and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Certified CPA (preferred) or a student enrolled in CPA program, accompanied by a Bachelor of Business/Commerce with a Major in Accounting
  • 1+ years of experience in real estate development accounting (preferred) or 3+ years in a similar high-volume fast-paced role
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with cash management, budgeting, and financial reporting
  • Proven work experience handling high volume in a fast-paced work environment with multiple demands
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills; must have the ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
  • The ability to present project information to various levels of Anthem management and are comfortable taking an active role in project meetings

  • Experience with Yardi (an asset)

Responsibilities

  • Administer all aspects of development accounting, including cash management, job costing, contract management and project reporting
  • Review monthly accounts payable and GST filings related to project entities
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries relating to project entities
  • Track and reconcile intercompany and holdback accounts
  • Prepare and analyze monthly working paper files, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring that financial information provided is timely and relevant for purposes of reporting
  • Prepare monthly loan draw package and liaise with cost consultants/lenders
  • Monitor cash and prepare funding requests to ensure project has sufficient funds to satisfy payables
  • Work closely with project teams to ensure accuracy of cost and financial reporting for projects
  • Assist in the audit preparation for project entities
  • Prepare Statement of Adjustments as closings occur
  • Ad-hoc analysis and projects as required
